Entertaining Myself in Mississippi

I am blogging via my iphone, as I am having ongoing computer problems. The stress of that has pushed me to drawing.

I have been photographing the people and places in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and escaping into the scenes with my pencil and sketchpad.

I hate computer problems.

Just Living Life

I haven't neglected my blog. I just haven't been ready to write.  I've been just living life in this beautiful country town, Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, since returning in July.  I don't like to write, when I don't know what to say.   Ordinary life is good, but is it something to blog about?

"Ordinary" probably doesn't describe my life.....

It's almost time to write, again. In the meantime, I'm communicating with friends, family & the rest of the world via pictures on pinterest, tweets on twitter, and videos on youtube, along with my facebook activities.  I am continually thankful for the www.

Living in Clarksdale, Mississippi!

Well, my house is looking pretty good, and I'm feeling really comfortable in Clarksdale now.  I'm living in the first apartment inside The Holy Moly!
I
have photos of family & friends and a bit of my child's artwork on the fridge.  I have cooked a few meals, made double doozie chocolate chip cookies, enjoyed a steady supply of lemonade, and kept up with the clothes washing in my simple, though unusual, American home. (I also have a comfy guest room for friends and family members to visit.)

Of course, I'm feeling blessed to be living this American city-mouse life half of the year and the Australian country-mouse life during the other half.  I'll soon be leaving America mid-summer to return to Australia mid-winter two days later!  WOW!!  I never expected to be living like this!

There was a lovely article about Adrian Kosky and me in the Press Register's Profile magazine recently.  Click here to see my photos of the article.

Last February, before we returned to Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, Adrian and I made this little singing invitation to send to folks.

We hosted a small gathering to let people come to our corner and have a sticky beak into The Holy Moly.  It was wonderful to share this place with our new friends.  I'm looking forward to many more gatherings on this corner.....hopefully, many will be musical.

I posted more information about our life in the Mississippi Delta on our website for The Holy Moly.  Click here if you would like to go there.

Setting Up House in Clarksdale, Mississippi!

Converting an optometrist office to a cozy bedroom was not easy....but it was relatively inexpensive, considering that the office came with the building which Adrian and I just purchased and that it is now furnished, mostly, with items I owned or found in the building.

Here's the "before" picture of the bedroom, which includes an optometry exam chair, some sort of lighted optometry machine, a variety of eyeglass display cases and a sink.

The next picture is the in-between stage of the room changeover.  It was a storage place for a few days. After the equipment was moved out, and before the room became a bedroom, my clothes, shoes, and linens were stored in the room.

After a few hours of shuffling items out of and into the room, the transformation in to a bedroom was done. A big part of changing the room was covering ugly wall marks with beautiful pictures.  No more visible ugly wall marks.  No urgent need to paint or wallpaper the bedroom.

LOTS of pictures and mirrors were needed to cover up ugly wall marks, an electrical outlet, a light dimmer switch, and a wall-phone jack.  Luckily, I had lots of pictures and mirrors!  No need to look at ugly wall marks.  There's now a fake plant in the sink.  I think I'll replace it with a real plant and use the faucet to make sure it is watered regularly.

The only purchase for the room was the bed that was bought from a local furniture store.  I have not slept in it yet, but it is comforting to know that it is a comfortable bed that is ready to go.
